You can order a cloud server from the Megabit Cloud Client Area in a few minutes. Before you start, make sure your Gewape ID is verified (see Before you order a cloud server: your Gewape ID).
Step 1: choose a plan
Sign in to the Client Area and open the Cloud Servers store at mymegabitcloud.com/index.php/store/cloud-servers (on a regional Megabit Cloud site, add /index.php/store/cloud-servers to its address). Click Order Now on a plan. Prices are shown in the store.

Step 2: configure your server
- Operating System: Ubuntu 20.04, 22.04 or 24.04 LTS, Debian 12, Rocky Linux 9, AlmaLinux 9 are installed automatically. Windows Server 2025 is set up by our team instead: order it as usual and we contact you, and a Windows server needs the g1.large plan or larger. Windows servers start with an evaluation licence; when it ends, use your own licence or buy one from us.
- Region & Availability Zone: servers in Nairobi 1 (Kenya), Kigali (Rwanda) and Huye (Rwanda) are built automatically. Nairobi 2, London, Singapore and Dallas are set up by our team, so they take longer; we contact you when yours is ready.
- Additional Floating IPs: extra public IP addresses. They are added to your account unattached, and you attach them to a server on the GCI Platform.
- Additional vCPU / Additional RAM: more processing power or memory on top of the plan.
- Additional NVMe Storage: a second disk attached to your server. Format and mount it before first use.
- Backup Storage / Volume Snapshots: an allowance, in GB, for snapshots of your own server. You take and delete snapshots yourself on your server's page, up to the amount you bought; each snapshot counts the full size of the disk it copies. Without an allowance the page tells you how to add one. We do not take scheduled backups for you.
- Managed Support: choose 24/7 Managed if you want our team to look after the server for you; we contact you after you order.
- SSH Public Key (optional): paste one OpenSSH public key line (starting with
ssh-ed25519,ssh-rsaorecdsa-sha2-…) to sign in to a Linux server with your key. We create a password for you either way.
Step 3: check out and pay
Review your order, check out and pay the invoice. Your server is built as soon as the payment is received.
What happens next
- We build your server. This usually takes a few minutes.
- You receive a "Your Cloud VM is Ready" email with your plan, location, public IP address and username. For your security, the email never contains your password.
- Open the server in the Client Area to see the password (Show password).
- Wait about 5 minutes after the email before you connect: the server finishes setting itself up on first start. See Connecting to your cloud server.
