Managing your cloud server in the Client Area

Everything you need for day-to-day management is on your server's page in the Client Area.

Find your server

  1. Sign in to the Client Area on the Megabit Cloud site you ordered from (for example mymegabitcloud.com or rwanda.mymegabitcloud.com). The links in our emails take you to the right site.
  2. Open Services and click your Cloud Server.
  3. The Manage tab shows your server.

Server details

  • Status: Running, Stopped, or what the server is doing right now (Starting, Stopping, Restarting).
  • Floating IP (public IPv4): the address you use to reach your server. Any Additional floating IPs you bought are listed too.
  • Operating system, Region, Plan (vCPU, memory, disk) and Username.
  • Password: click Show password to see it, Copy to copy it and Hide when you are done. The password is never sent by email. Servers set up before this page existed show "the one you set on the server" instead.
  • Sign in: the exact SSH or Remote Desktop details for your server.

Start, stop and restart

  • Start turns a stopped server on.
  • Stop shuts the server down. Your data stays, and the server keeps its IP address.
  • Restart asks the operating system to restart cleanly.
  • Force restart restarts immediately, like pressing a reset button. Use it only when the server does not respond, because unsaved data can be lost.

The status updates a few seconds after you click. A server that is busy (for example still stopping) cannot take another action until it has finished.

Console

Console opens your server's screen in a new browser tab. Use it when you cannot connect over the network, for example after a firewall change. The server must be running.

Usage graphs

The Usage section shows CPU, memory in use and network traffic for the last 24 hours or 7 days. A new point appears every 5 minutes.

Open GCI Platform

Open GCI Platform signs you in to the GCI Platform with your Gewape ID, without asking for a password again. There you can manage more advanced settings such as networks, firewall rules (security groups), volumes and snapshots. You only ever see your own servers.

When a server is suspended

If an invoice is overdue, the server is stopped and the buttons are unavailable until the invoice is paid. See Suspension, cancellation and termination.
